Saltspray Cafe Too

(Halifax, NS)

My family vacations in Middleton, NS every year and stumbled upon the Saltspray cafe Too this year just outside the town. From the road we were admittedly skeptic but thought we'd give it a try. Great decision on our part.

The inside isn't stuffy at all. It was decorated to reflect the name with fish net, buoys, lighthouses and more. We instantly felt welcomed by the friendly staff.

We ordered the 2 piece fish and chips although we thought for the price it was a bit high but oh my stars were we in for a shock. Each piece was half a pound on top of a mound of homemade fries. Batter was perfectly crisp and the fish was awesome. We of course devoured it all and then shared a piece of peanut butter chocolate pie. We were in heaven.

We returned there 3 more times and had their Saltspray Burger Platter which was what a burger should taste like. It was a double patty too loaded and came with those great fries and coleslaw - yummy. The clams were outstanding and huge portions too. Oh and do try the coconut cream pie. Truly homemade even the whipped cream. When we ordered it you could hear the waitress go back and whip it.

This is our favorite place to go in the valley now and will return again and again.

What a treasure this cafe is. I think it is actually considered located in Nictaux but you can find it on trunk 10 if you are heading toward Bridgewater.

Belinda's Notes:

Thank you Denise for letting us know about this great place. It sounds simply wonderful and I am looking forward to trying it out, especially the fish and the coconut cream pie!
