The Big Scoop, Middleton N.S

On my recent stay in Nova Scotia I just happened across The Big Scoop in Middleton.
This place is famous for it's homemade ice cream, and believe me it is well worth the trip just for the ice cream!
However, they have an extensive menu, very reasonable in price and something for every taste. Their homemade deserts are to die for, especially their carrot cake (if you can forgo the sundaes!!)
They have a daily luncheon special which is always good, portions are a good size and their homemade soups are delicious.
Their wait staff is very friendly and helpful, one even helped me to find out where to purchase some fruit trees I wanted. Well worth a try if you are in the area.

For years the Big Scoop was the place to go for good home-made meals and of course their ice-cream. I remember stopping there after shopping trips up the valley, it used to be one of mom's favorites.
I had not been there for years and had actually heard some bad reports from there for a bit. But a few years ago when I was living back there caring for mom we used to stop in there again after shopping in Greenwood. I found that the food was still good then, and the staff was very friendly to us. They did what they could to accommodate mom, as she was either in a wheelchair, or walking very short distances with a cane.
The Big Scoop is located along Hwy #1 between Middleton and Kingston, in Wilmot. You may contact them by calling (902) 825 4526.
Thanks Deborah for your review of the Big Scoop.
